A group of women belly danced their way through Forster today.
The spectacle, raising funds for the Great Lakes Women’s Shelter.
They’re part of a world wide initiative called ‘Shimmy Mob.’
Each year on the 13th of May, women around the world dance to the same routine, raising money to combat domestic violence and fund women’s refuges.
“Women and women with children need somewhere to go in an emergency to escape violence. That’s the only place in the whole area. There is a really high rate of domestic violence in this area sadly.”
The event, attracting women from Wingham to Tamworth.
