Newcastle’s Catholic Bishop has spoken out about one of the diocese’s former priests, found guilty of sex offences against young boys.
It comes after a court order, preventing comment on David O’Hearn’s case, was lifted yesterday.
O’Hearn hasn’t been in the ministry since charges were brought against him in 2008, and he’s spent most of the last four years in prison.
In a statement, Bishop Bill Wright acknowledged the work of New South Wales Police in bringing justice for the victims…
And went on to say he feels “great shame that another member of the clergy has been guilty of crimes of this kind.”
