POLICE UNCOVER MORE THAN $80,000 DURING DRUG STING

More than $80,000 dollars in cash has been discovered during an investigation into the supply of ice in Newcastle, spanning several months.

Officers from Newcastle City Police District began investigating the supply of methamphetamine in the Newcastle area in November last year.

Following months of investigation, police raided a King Street apartment and spoke with a 39-year-old man.

During a search of his vehicle, police allegedly seized a small quantity of methamphetamine, an electrical stun device similar to a taser, and more than $80,000 in cash.

The man was taken to Newcastle Police Station and hit with a number of charges including 22 counts of drug supply.

He was refused bail and will front Newcastle Local Court later today.
