NEWCASTLE’S LIGHT RAIL UNDER MICROSCOPE AT INFORMATION SESSION

The Baird Government’s light rail plans for Newcastle’s CBD were once again in the spotlight today, at an information session held by Transport New South Wales.
The discussion forum, which attracted far fewer people than expected, addressed concerns over a lack of parking.
“Look I think a lot of people really do understand the parking issues in town and they’ve been coming up with good ideas about where we can look at parking in other locations.”
New data released by Newcastle City Council yesterday shows 89 percent of current parking spaces along Hunter and Scott streets will be lost under the plan.
