The Coffs Harbour Men’s Shed group is celebrating tonight, as the concrete slab for its new workshop is laid.
Members have been working tooth and nail to find a place to call their own – and not have to worry about renting.
Local Men’s Shed president, David Churchyard says the construction start date has been six years in the making.
“We’ve worked hand-in-hand together, throughout the community and especially Council, they’ve worked very close to us.”
Mayor Denise Knight, acknowledging the significant role the organisation plays in the coastal community.
“They are an important part of our community. Council has given them $67,500, there’s still a long way to go. Federal funding has also come in.
The mayor says council’s also hopeful of setting the men up with their own display room, and carpark.
