TAMWORTH CELEBRATES HERITAGE WITH FESTIVAL
It’s a great time to be a history buff in Tamworth over the next two weeks, with the first ever Heritage Festival now underway.
A range of events aim to showcase the region’s rich past, including an Indigenous Cultural Tour, a heritage walk and the display of documents and artefacts in the Tamworth Council’s foyer.
“To celebrate and recognise our local history and delve into all of the days gone past and see what they have to offer,” said Genevieve Harrison, strategic planning manager for Tamworth’s Heritage Council.
Among the displays – a petition from 1880 from local residents wishing to hold an annual musical festival.
