MAN FOUND ALLEGEDLY LIGHTING A FIRE NEAR SINGLETON

A man will face court in Singleton over allegedly lighting a fire during a Total Fire Ban.
Emergency services were called to a home on Long Point Road East, Long Point just after 9 o’clock on Wednesday night, after reports a small fire had been lit in the backyard.
Police spoke with a 26-year-old man, and it’s alleged he lit the fire to burn rubbish.
On arrival, the fire was already extinguished, but was burning less than 40 metres from a shed containing petrol, oil and fertilisers.
The man was given a Future Court Attendance Notice, and is due to appear at Singleton Local Court early next year.
