ADAM GOODES BOOING SAGA MOTIVATED ME TO SPEAK UP: STAN GRANT
Walkley Award winning journalist, Stan Grant, has spoken on a range of Indigenous issues as part of the Newcastle Writers Festival today.
Speaking with Jill Emberson before an audience at the Civic Theatre, Mr Grant indicated that it was the ‘Adam Goodes booing saga’ last year that motivated him to write a series of articles for The Guardian, which led to his Walkley Award win.
Mr Grant also indicated an element of Australian society remains inherently and instinctively hostile towards Indigenous people, but believed it was part of his responsibility to be inclusive in addressing Indigenous issues.
The Newcastle Writers Festival continues until Thursday.
