Workcover has issued a safety alert to the operators of go kart tracks after a tragic accident that claimed the life of a young Sydney mother earlier this month.
The 26-year-old had been riding a go-kart at the Port Stephens track, when her religious head scarf became tangled in an unguarded, rear axle and strangled her.
Work cover has advised operators to fit guards to their karts, consider providing overalls and balaclavas to secure long hair and loose clothing and not allow people to drive if they don’t cover up.
