TAMWORTH CONTINUES WORKING TO ‘CLOSE THE GAP’
A network of Tamworth’s key health services believe the region needs more public support initiatives, rather than private, in order to address indigenous inequality.
It follows a meeting at the Coledale Community Centre today, to discuss ways to help ‘Close the Gap’.
“They can’t financially afford that. For them to go through the public health system, or be bulk-billed, it can take weeks.”
But the region has been making progress with employment, with local supermarkets and fast food outlets even helping with education too.
“Keeping them at school, showing them if they don’t get their education, they won’t get a job to look after their family in the future.”
