Part of Lismore on the far north coast has been in lockdown for more than 24 hours, as police work to resolve a siege situation.
Officers evacuated homes in Dalley Street at East Lismore at around 4:30 yesterday afternoon, after receiving reports shots had been fired by a 33-year-old man.
They hold concerns for his welfare, and have been negotiating with him.
Lismore High School was also evacuated, and remained closed today.
