SEAFARERS STARVE CLAIM ON PROTEST SHIP

The Maritime Union claims a shipping company is trying to starve its members off a ship, at the centre of a dispute in the Port of Newcastle
It says fridges have been padlocked on the CSL Melbourne, and union officials denied access to the vessel.
The ship makes regular trips to Newcastle with raw materials for the Tomago Aluminium smelter.
But it’s to be replaced with a smaller, foreign-crewed vessel – and the five remaining Australian seafarers onboard are refusing to leave.
Photos of padlocked fridges emerged today, but CSL Shipping insists the men are being fed.
