SURFEST WILDCARDS UP FOR GRABS AT BIRUBI BEACH

Surfers came from all over the country to compete for a Surfest wildcard today at Birubi Beach.

In the women’s final, Morriset’s Sophia Fulton joined fellow Hunter surfer Danielle Hancock, vying for a spot in the Women’s 6000 point event.

In the men’s, Port Stephens’ own Chris Michalak was one of the four finalists, hoping to earn at shot at the Mark Richards trophy.

Central Coast surfer Dane Atcheson was also in the mix, but in the end, it was a West Australian who claimed the coveted spot.

Margaret River’s Jacob Wilcox will now advance straight to the round of 96, when the main events get underway on February 22.
