URUNGA SLSC PUT ON NOTICE AFTER ESCAPING BAN

Urunga Surf Life Saving Club has been given a reprieve, after facing the prospect of a 12 month ban from competition.

The club failed its duty of care when it was unable to organise enough volunteers to patrol at Hungry Head beach for two hours on Christmas Day.

However a North Coast Branch meeting in Sawtell last night was told the judiciary had decided not to impose a penalty on this occasion.

Branch President, Kerry Clancy, says the Urunga Club has been formally reprimanded and put on notice, that any further breaches of standards will result in a competition ban.
