NO REPLACEMENTS FOR AXED TITANS

The Gold Coast Titans’ woes have continued today with news stood down players Greg Bird and David Taylor won’t be able to be replaced by the start of the NRL season.

Taylor and Bird are among five Titans charged with supplying cocaine. All five players have been stood down, and must front the club board in the next fortnight. Until a decision is made, the club cannot sign replacements. They play the Tigers in the season opener in a fortnight.

Titans boss Graham Annesley today said the players won’t be available for selection.

“Anything involving the Crime and Corruption Commission and allegations of involvement in drugs is not something where we believe we can allow the players to continue with their training or playing commitments until we get some resolution around that,” said Annesley.

“Unfortunately at this stage they won’t be taking the field.”

The Titans held a recovery at a council-owned swimming pool and didn’t respond to questions from the media.
