BAITING PROGRAMS NEEDED TO MANAGE WILD DOG PROBLEM
Agriculture Minister Barnaby Joyce says stronger baiting programs are essential to managing wild dogs.
The federal government has committed $255,000 over four years to bring the numbers under control.
Mr Joyce says one wild dog can kill up to 40 sheep in a night, and it’s an issue for graziers right across the North West.
“If we don’t control wild dogs we don’t have the capacity to get sheep back into an area. It has huge affects also on cattle weaning rates, it affects the whole productivity of what we’re doing in our electorate,” he says.
