An elderly North West farmer, accused of shooting dead a Tamworth environment officer after an ongoing dispute, has formally declared his innocence.
80-year-old Ian Turnbull appeared in the Supreme Court today via audio visual link, where Justice Peter Johnson arraigned him on a single charge of murder.
The crown alleges Mr Turnbull shot 51-year-old Glen Turner in the back three times, following an ongoing dispute over clearing vegetation on properties in the Croppa Creek area.
Mr Turnbull’s two-week trial is expected to take place in April.
