Tweed and Byron residents are being urged to be on alert for measles symptoms after a person who visited the region last week was diagnosed with the disease.
There’s also been six reported cases in Queensland over the past month.
“We have very low vaccination rates which puts those communities at great risk of developing more cases of measles”
North Coast Public Health says vaccination is the most effective way to prevent infection.
