HALITI OUT FOR SEASON

The Newcastle Jets’ striking stocks have taken a blow, with confirmation today, Labinot Haliti’s season is over.

The striker hobbled off with an injured knee in the first half of the Jets 1-0 loss to Sydney FC on Saturday.

Jets coach Scott Miller confirmed the extent of Haliti’s injury at training this morning.

Meanwhile Mark Birrighitti has been told he won’t play in Friday’s clash with Melbourne Victory in Newcastle.

The custodian had indicated he was keen to play after receiving 30 stitches and extensive dental work following a boot to the face from Shane Smeltz in the second half of Saturday’s game.

Ben Kennedy will take his place as expected.
