Work to convert Lake Ainsworth’s eastern road into parkland has been deferred indefinitely, after protestors threatened Ballina Shire Council with court action.
Lawyers for the ‘Preserving Lake Ainsworth’ group have signalled it’ll fight the project in the land and environment court, if necessary.
Hoping to avoid costly litigation, Council’s now seeking revised planning approval.
Construction won’t commence until that approval is obtained.
