Two firearms have been seized by police, following the search of a car in the Port Stephens region.

Police officers stopped at white Mitsubishi Magna on Port Stephens Road at Raymond Terrace yesterday evening.

It’s claimed, while the officers were speaking to the driver, the male passenger ran off.

A search of the vehicle allegedly uncovered two .22 calibre rifles.

Shortly after, police searched a home at Millers Forrest where they claim to have located firearm parts.

Police want to speak to a 25-year-old man, as part of their investigation.
