HAZY SHADE OF AUTUMN

It was a smoggy start to the day across some parts of the Hunter.
Weather conditions and hazard reduction burning combined to place the region under a blanket of smog.
NBN weatherman Gavin Morris says calm conditions, a lack of wind and a higher level of warm air have helped trap smoke from several RFS hazard reduction burns in the Hunter and Lake Macquarie.
He says there’s also been a convergence of westerly winds and seabreazes over the weekend.
“Basically there are two air masses meeting and there’s nothing to clear it.” said Gavin.
