A 53-year-old man has been charged after he allegedly tried to rape a 17-year-old girl in Taree yesterday.
The girl was walking on Victoria Street at about 11.30am, when she was allegedly grabbed by the man and threatened with a paint scrapper.
The man then allegedly inappropriately touched her and made threats to assault her, before she broke free.
The teen was assisted by two witnesses, who held the accused at the scene, before he was arrested by police.
He was refused bail and later charged with attempted kidnapping and assault with intent to have sexual intercourse, he’ll face Taree Court tomorrow.
