Queensland’s Mark Richardson is the new over 35’s national champion after a stand-out performance today at the Australian Surf Festival on the Coffs Coast.
The 43-year-old Gold Coast surfer outclassed Mitch Dawkings from Port Stephens and two other New South Wales challengers.
Richardson recorded a stunning 9.8 ride on his way to claiming the crown.
“Just absolutely stoked, I’ve come second a few times in that event and ah you know just chipping away and I finally got it,” Richardson said.
The long board competition begins tomorrow.
