In a big win for farmers, social and environmental impacts could soon be the number one priority for government when it comes to mining developments.
A draft change to the State Environment Planning Policy would see social, economic and environmental issues placed ahead of the value of resources.
The state government is now undertaking a full review of the mining policy and the public is being asked to make a submission on the draft amendment to the Department of Planning.
