The Newcastle Knights have released centre Joey Leilua.
The 23year-old who’s played 54 NRL games for the Knights is expected to sign with Canberra.
Leilua was contracted until the end of 2016, but had a get out clause in his contract should Wayne Bennett not be coaching at the club.
The Knights say they are considering all options ahead of the June 30 transfer deadline, with former Kangaroo David Shillington mooted as a replacement as part of a trade deal with the Raiders.
