LAKE MACQUARIE COUNCILLORS VOTE ON PASMINCO SITE PLANS

Lake Macquarie councillors will tonight decide whether to put plans for the redevelopment of the Pasminco site at Cockle Creek on public exhibition.

The lead smelter closed back in 2003, and while redevelopment has always been in the pipeline, decontamination has been an ongoing issue.

Councillors will vote on a revised area plan, which includes a range of residential, commercial and light industrial uses for the site.

It also indicates the preferred location for new roads, bus routes and cycleways, while identifying a new intersection for TC Frith Avenue and Main Road, and the extension of Munibung Road.
