The Awabakal Land Council is expected to learn what it’ll take to revitalise the former Newcastle Post Office next week.
Newcastle MP, Tim Crakanthorp, met with New South Wales Heritage Minister Mark Speakman in Sydney today.
He says he used the meeting to stress the importance of the historical building to the people of Newcastle.
The Government Architect and Office of Environment and Heritage have inspected the site, and are expected to finalise a report on the extent of the damage next week.
The Land Council has also been urged to apply for state funding, to make the building watertight to prevent further damage.
