END OF AN ERA FOR SAWTELL

The old copper wire telephone network is coming to an end for residents of Sawtell.

From today, 4400 homes will have their old lines disconnected as part of the transition to the National Broadband Network.

Telstra says people who haven’t switched will still be able to call Triple-Zero or their provider for twenty days.

It is encouraging community members to check in on loved ones and elderly neighbours to make sure they are fully prepared for the disconnection of copper services.
