ANZAC centenary celebrations will be extra special for those in Forster-Tuncurry this year, with the local RSL club unveiling a new memorial with a direct connection to Gallipoli.
The lone pine tree at the memorial in Tuncurry, grew from a corn from the original lone pine at Gallipoli during World War One.
The project, which also included refurbishing and relocating the site, came about in preparation for large crowds expected at this year’s Dawn Service.
