BLUE-GREEN ALGAE SPOTTED ACROSS THE HASTINGS

Port Macquarie-Hastings residents are being urged to steer clear of Googly’s Lagoon in Laurieton, as well as the Camden Haven and Hastings River due to blue-green algae.

The algae can be seen in patches of unusual-coloured water and can cause nausea, skin irritations and ear infections.

Any sightings of the algae should be reported to Council.
