HUNTERS MAKE IT A WINNING DOUBLE AGAINST HORNSBY

Maitland has missed its chance to move closer to a playoff spot in the Waratah Basketball League, losing to Illawarra by 12 last night.

There was better news for the Newcastle Hunters, with both the men’s and women’s sides beating Hornsby.

Newcastle was playing without Australian representative Katie Rae Ebzery, but the undefeated Hunters were still able to extend their winning streak to 11 games.

In another well rounded team effort, Katie’s sister Alison made a valuable contribution, scoring 12 points and adding seven rebounds.

Ultimately Newcastle’s defence in the second half was the key, limiting the Spiders to just 12 points.
