Armidale team Black Impa has taken out the inaugural Tenterfield to Tamworth Aboriginal Touch Knockout over the weekend.
In a close final, they managed to edge out fellow Armidale side No Idea by a try.
The competition was run by Northern Tablelands Indigenous group, Lighting the Fire.
About 60 teams competed in Armidale, including sides from Inverell and Walcha.
It’s hoped the tournament will become an annual event.
