There was a lucky escape for a family at Cardiff in Lake Macquarie, after a 30-metre gum tree fell in their front yard during last night’s storm.
The tree damaged a street light, leaving a trail of destruction.
Today a team of SES volunteers worked to clear the debris.
Across the Hunter, the SES answered around 50 calls for help, mainly in the Newcastle and Lake Macquarie areas.
