AUDIT TIME FOR BLUEBERRY FARMS

Inspectors from the Fair Work Ombudsman’s office will return to the Mid North Coast this month to conduct further auditing of blueberry farms.

The spot checks aim to ensure seasonal workers are being paid correctly.

Last season, the Fair Work Ombudsman found two employers had underpaid 13 workers almost $10,000.

At one farm, nine employees were denied more than $6,000.

One operator was fined $510 dollars and a second property owner had to repay almost $3,500 to workers.
