COMPLIANCE CRACK DOWN ON NORTH COAST JET SKI USERS

A compliance blitz on North Coast jet ski users has seen just three fines handed out over the weekend.

Maritime officers also gave 20 official warnings – after inspecting more than 200 jet skis across the region.

“We’ve noticed over the last two years, that personal watercraft ownership, licenses, and registrations are increasing and they’re overrepresented in the safety figures for boating accidents and incidents,” Nick Richards, New South Wales Maritime Boating Safety Officer.

Licensing and registration issues accounted for 60 per cent of the breaches.
