An 11-metre yacht has been destroyed by fire on Lake Macquarie.
Residents along the foreshore at Buttaba, on the western side of the lake, reported the incident at around 5.30am.
Firefighters teamed up with water police to get to the blazing fibreglass yacht, but little could be done before it burnt to the waterline and sank at its mooring.
Efforts then turned to containing oil and diesel spills from the vessel.
