A decision by federal environment minister Peter Garrett to reject a proposed dam near Brisbane, has given hope to those fighting the Hunter’s planned Tillegra Dam.
Mr Garrett axed the $1.8-billion Traveston Dam, on environmental grounds.
The No Tillegra Group says a new dam in the Hunter Valley would be just as destructive, and it hopes the Brisbane decision will add weight to its argument.
The group will travel to the New South Wales parliament tomorrow, to deliver submissions against the proposal.
