Chemical giant, Orica, has been ordered to take the next step in the clean-up of arsenic-contaminated groundwater at its Kooragang Island site in Newcastle.
The EPA says the company dealt with the principal source of the contamination in 2005, shortly after it took control of the site.
However Orica’s now required to implement works to prevent further migration of the groundwater.
It says it’s currently assessing options for the remediation.
