Police are investigating a fire, which gutted a newly renovated home at Tullera, north of Lismore.
Fire fighters were called to the rural property yesterday afternoon and arrived to find the weatherboard home completely engulfed in flames.
A woman and several pets were home when the blaze broke out but managed to escape uninjured.
“The residence was known to us he’s one of our members from the Tullera brigade so he is actually a member of the Tullera brigade unfortunately he wasn’t home at the time.”
The brigade is now rallying support for their colleague and his family who lost everything in the blaze.
The fire is not being treated as suspicious.
