JERONIMO DROPS IN TO JETS

The Newcastle Jets have added another name to their roster for the upcoming A-League season with Argentine Jeronimo Neumann signing on for one season.

The striker has spent the past two seasons at Adelaide where he scored 16 goals in 48 games.

28-year-old Neumann has played at a host of clubs in Argentina and had a stint at English side Barnsley.

“Phil (Stubbins) contacted me to tell me the ideas he had for the Club and I was excited to be part of it,” Jeronimo said.

“My job is to score goals and give 100 per cent for the team every time I am on the field, so hopefully myself and my teammates can help Newcastle finish in a strong position on the table.

“I am very happy to join the Jets and I’m looking forward to getting started and doing my best for the fans.”

Phil Stubbins has described it as a huge coup for the club, after the departure of Adam Taggart who’ll play with Fulham in the English Championship.

“Jeronimo is a very interesting player because he can play in numerous positions,” Stubbins said.

“I see him as a second striker who can chip in with a very good goal return and I think he’ll complement the other strikers that we’ve got in Joel Griffiths and Edson Montano very nicely.

“He certainly comes with a good reputation and we believe he will only enhance the culture we’re building here.

“Speaking to him face-to-face, he’s very excited to join the Jets and I’m sure our Members are looking forward to seeing what attributes he can bring to Newcastle.”
