Police have charged a woman and six men over the assault of seven people on a train at Newcastle station last month.
About 1:30am on Sunday June One, police allege the group attacked a 47-year-old man when he approached them about fishing equipment he believed had been stolen from him.
Five men and one woman attempted to intervene and were also allegedly assaulted.
The group will appear before Newcastle Local Court in August.
