FORMER GREENS LEADER THROWS HIS SUPPORT BEHIND PROTESTERS
Former Greens Leader Bob Brown has thrown his support behind protesters in the Leard State Forest.
Mr Brown toured the region today and met with farmers in the area – he says both state and federal governments must protect the forest and its ecological communities.
“Very special, very rare, nationally listed, but you’d think there’s a heard of elephants in there, it’s been walloped by get rich quick, dirty, coal mining interests and the expensive of australian people and their heritage.”
He also dismissed a draft report from the Natural Resources Commission which recommends the Brigalow and Nandewar Conservation areas be opened up for logging.
“If we respect our grandchildren, we protect these areas forever. But this death by a thousand cuts, a little bit more destruction won’t hurt, is a road to ruination.”
