The Hunter Business Chamber has welcomed the potential for more infrastructure funding for parts of the Hunter Region.
It comes as Cessnock and Maitland now qualify for the Resources for Regions funding, following a change in eligibility criteria .
CEO Kristen Keegan says the chamber has been pushing for the region’s recognition for some time.
“It is certainly welcome news to see these areas getting this very deserved recognition in terms of their connection and contribution to the mining industry,” she said.
The Resources for Regions program will span four years with a funding pool of $160 million.
