One year and seven point three million dollars after the Clarrie Hall Dam upgrade began, the Tweed icon’s facelift is complete.
The extended spillway – made from 200 concrete blocks – will provide extra protection in extreme weather.
“To cater for an extreme flood event. So the spillway when it was originally designed, could cater for a one in two thousand year event. Now the dam can cater for a one in one million year event.”
The dam also boasts new recreational facilities – to attract tourists to the site.
