PREMIER VOWS TO WIN BACK VOTERS’ TRUST

The New South Wales Premier has vowed to win back voters’ trust in Newcastle and Charlestown before next year’s state election.
Premier Mike Baird made the comment during a visit to the region this morning, where he again apologised to the community following recent revelations at the Corruption Commission.
The ICAC inquiry into illegal political donations has led to the resignations of Tim Owen (Newcastle) and Andrew Cornwell (Charlestown), as well as Newcastle’s Lord Mayor Jeff McCloy.
Mr Baird says he’s committed to getting his ‘house in order’ before the next election in March, which is why the Liberal Party won’t contest the upcoming by-election.
