LIVERPOOL PLAINS SHIRE COUNCIL SEEKS SMALLER RATE RISE
The Liverpool Plains Shire Council has voted not to proceed with the 19 per cent rate variation proposed to the Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal, but to instead seek a smaller rise of 12.5 per cent in 2014-15.
A survey of 200 people and found 61 per cent of residents didn’t support the rate increase saying it was ‘too high’.
The smaller rate rise should see Werris Creek, Quirindi and surrounding villages save on residential land, farmland, business but it will reduce rate revenue by about $400,000.
