A man is lucky to be alive after a horrific crash on the New England Highway near Armidale this morning.
A ute was left barely recognisable after leaving the road and careening into a power pole.
The male driver was taken to Armidale hospital in a stable condition with suspected back and neck injuries.
Three vehicles were involved in the incident shortly before 10 o’clock.
