Residents of North Bellingen were left without power for over an hour last night when a storm hit the area.
Wind gusts blew sheets of roofing iron from two small grandstands at the showgrounds.
The blackout happened when one piece of corrugated iron sliced through a power line – other sheets came to rest in nearby trees and backyards.
Inspector Andre Van Hoeck said, “We just couldn’t believe the amount of damage done to two small grandstands and nothing else around the area other than them”
The Showground Trust says the debris will be cleaned up before the Artisan Markets on Saturday.
