Newcastle defender Mathew Dawson has helped the Burras take another step towards a quarter finals berth at hockey’s Junior World Cup in India.
After a 5-2 win against Argentina in the opening round, Australia defeated Spain 2-1.
“There’s a chance here for Australia, can they take it…yes they can.”
Dawson was superb on the backline, helping goalie Andrew Butturini fend off the stubborn Spaniards.
The Burras play France in their final pool game tonight.
